Happiness

This past September my husband and I moved his mom out of a 55 year old apartment complex into  a facility where she has people taking care of her medication and keeping an eye on her.  She has  alzheimer’s.  Last night my husband called her to say good night.  He asked how her day was.  She was so excited telling him that they had some kind of celebration yesterday.  She wasn’t sure what the celebration was, but she was laughing and telling him how she danced and sang lots of songs and she had so much fun.  She shared that she was helping a man who was selling his merchandise to other residents.  She told him that he looked like he needed help so she helped him pass out the items to the various residents.

The past few years have been really hard getting along with her and finding a place where she would be happy.  It was wonderful hearing how happy she is.  We are content knowing that we found the right place for her.

  1. I’m glad you did find the right place for her. It is so hard to watch our parents get older, they took such good care of us, we want to do the same for them.

Your writing also shows that people find happiness in different ways or things.
