Their, they’re, there

After spending  time grading 5th graders Westward Expansion papers I realized that my students  had no idea which word to use. I gave them a quick worksheet choosing which word was the right word to use. About 5% of each class got a 100%.  They then watched a video to make the connection to the word there. The word here is in that word so use there because it is a place. Their means ours. Their has 2 vowels in it & so does the word our.  They’re is they are. The kids got it. Hopefully it will stick.  A good day.
