Saturday Scavenger

Write. Share. Give.

I have been putting things off.  Piles of papers from my grad class, missing mail, folders missing.  I have the same situation in  my classroom, but I think I have a better handle on it than I do at home.  My class looks  “visually put together,” except for half of my desk there is a stacked pile which looks “relatively neat,”  but I am not exactly sure what is in that pile. About a month ago I received an invitation for my post graduation ceremony. I am finishing my last grad class to get certification as a literacy specialist.  I know it was on the kitchen table, but alas, it is not there and I haven’t been able to find it.  My husband was working on the taxes a few weeks ago and he thought it might be in the tax mess.  I looked, but no luck.   We have a box in the garage for recycled paper and mail.  I have “found”missing things there before,so that was my next place to look.  Sure enough, it was buried pretty far down in the pile.  Thankfully, my husband had not taken the box to the transfer station, never to be seen again.  I also found my hat and a folder I have been looking for (not in the recyling box.)  To top it off I went through the piles of papers from my grad class and will be storing it in my classroom filing cabinet.  Overall a productive day.

We have a similar strategy with paper. I am attacker and generally know which stack things are in. Curiously, my computer desktop is much more organized. Everything is in a folder and neat on the virtual desktop. I don’t really understand why i can do it on the computer and not in real life.

So comforting that I’m not the only one who struggles with papers.
