We have moved my daughter many, many times, but yesterday was the first time we did it while it was snowing. It was cold and blustery. I am thankful I had a hood to keep me dry and to keep me a bit warmer. We had to go to U-haul to pick up a trailer. My daughter had reserved one, but when we got there they said there was none available. The girl behnd the counter told us we could get one uncovered. We had a three hour drive on the highway and we did not feel that would be good choice. The other issue was that we had no plans to return the trailer to Boston. We wanted to be able to drop it off in Connecticut where we live. She told us that all of the trailers available had to be returned to the same place where they were rented. She was making phone calls to other U-haul offices within Massachusetts to see if she could find us one that met our needs.
A young girl walked in. She had heard part of the conversation and said to us that she was droppng off a trailer that was enclosed. She had just driven from Virginia. I felt like she was an angel. An answer to our prayers. We told the woman behind the counter and she said she would see if it had already been reserved for someone else. I chatted with the girl, she said her husband is in the military and he got transferred to Boston. We chatted about the snow and she said it is nothing like Virginia where everything seems to stop. She said, here in Boston people are jogging in the snow.
A few minutes later the woman behind the counter said that everything was all set and we would be able to rent the trailer. I have no idea what we would have done had we not gotten the trailer. We thanked the girl, telling her she was an answer to our prayers.
All’s well that ends well.
