PD Day

March Slice of Life

March Slice of Life

Today’s professional development was spent at the town library with 3rd,4th and 5th grade writing teachers I teach fifth grade writing at my school.  I am the only 5th grade writing teacher since 5th grade is departmentalized.Last year I piloted the Lucy Calkins Units of writing. There are six 5th grade writing teachers in the district. With the new units and all of the grading we feel a bit out of our element. We are lucky if we meet once a year. It was wonderful having the whole day to share and talk and get our tool kits ready. Some of the principals were at the PD and said that they would see what we could do to have some collaboration time. I feel energized based on the conversations we had today.  It was a very good Election Day.
