Hawk

March Slice of Life

March Slice of Life

A warm breeze blew softly whispering that spring was not far off. The fields were at times covered in hard, wet slippery ice. Other areas were covered in mud. Still other areas were packed hard earth baked by the early morning sun. As we followed the path bordered by leafless trees I looked up to see an enormous bird. It was a hawk. Quickly my husband and I took out our phones to take a picture. The sun was preventing us from seeing what we were taking a picture of.  Together we snapped a picture but when we put our phones down he was gone without a sound. We continued walking the field and we saw him again. We walked closer and then he flew away. He continued taunting us. We would spot him and then we would look and he would be gone. At least 4 or 5 times we played this game.  I never heard that memorable high pitch call that red tail hawks make. He was very magestic.

I love watching the hawks! I’m constantly scanning the trees with no leaves to see if I can spot one. Soon they will be hidden in the leaves of the trees.
