Getting Ready for School

The pine trees sit so pretty on the school grounds.

They have been given a “haircut”.

Their branches no longer touch the ground hiding their massive trunks.

Carpets have been steamed and are looking presentable.

Floors have been scrubbed and polished revealing a glowing reflection.

Windows no longer reveal fingerprints of last years children.

Wood chips have been neatly spread so there are no bare spots.

Desks are shiny and clean waiting for decoration.

Books and bins are dust free standing straight ready to be revealed.

Bulletin boards have bright paper waiting for student work to be displayed.

It is that time of the year…

  1. The trees getting a haircut makes me smile. I took my son for just such a haircut yesterday. I can feel that happy anticipation in this piece, sweet.
