I know a guy

Whose brain is fuzzy when he wakes up.

Who I can’t talk to until half hour after he has coffee.

Who can be the voice of doom watching out for others safety.

Who put a railing on our staircase at our children’s height.

Who bought me a stepladder so I don’t climb on the counters.

Who is the funny guy at family gatherings.

Who is a mechanic, a handyman, a tech savvy guy.

Who is a wonderful, compassionate son.

Who is a caring father.

Who is a wonderful husband.

Who is a great guy!

Your slice reminds me of my own slice this week – I made a similar list about my mom. I love your choice of details to include, especially the thing about the stepladder. A small detail that says a lot about him! I also like how you started each line with “who”. I started my lines all differently. I might have to revise! Thanks.

I hope you shared this with that guy!

  3. So sweet! Who is this wonderful person? The line that caught my eye is the one about building a step ladder so you didn’t have to climb on the counters! My kind of guy!

This is such a great piece. I feel like I’m almost reading about a few men I have in my life, like my stepfather and boyfriend. I hope this wonderful person is in your life and continues to bring you such great joy in your life.
